TB-500
A name used for synthetic versions of thymosin beta-4, a 43-amino-acid protein found in most human cells, or of its actin-binding fragment.

Level of evidence
Preclinical — cell and animal studiesWhat it is
Thymosin beta-4 is a 43-amino-acid protein that binds actin, a component of the cell skeleton. Products sold as “TB-500” may be the full-length peptide or a short fragment of its actin-binding region: the certificate of analysis (measured mass) tells which one a batch contains.
State of the research
Research on thymosin beta-4 covers cell migration and tissue repair in cell and animal models. Small clinical studies of full-length thymosin beta-4 formulations (for example eye drops) have been reported; no medicine based on it is approved.
