Ipamorelin
A small synthetic peptide that acts on the ghrelin receptor, discovered at Novo Nordisk in the 1990s.

Level of evidence
Clinical trials — controlled human studiesWhat it is
Ipamorelin is a five-amino-acid synthetic peptide described in 1998. It stimulates growth hormone release through the ghrelin (GHS-R1a) receptor, with high selectivity in animal studies.
State of the research
It was tested in phase 2 clinical trials for postoperative ileus; development as a medicine was not continued.
